Friday to myself ..

Friday was the day I planned to get my fitting for my new hearing aid - but because I know myself well, I thought -- today will be for me.. the whole day. So I booked off work, had hubby take the little miss to school. What a slow and nice start to the day I had.. until 9:30am - I was out wiping down my front room windows, the neighbours had done some last minute work before the open house this weekend, and the dust had created a coating on our front windows ( and good neighbour I am, I wanted to make sure they sparkled as the potential new neighbours came for a look! When all of a sudden I hear a horrible sound of two cars crashing.. but then nothing.. I thought oh that darn corner ( broadview and O'conner). Then the screaming started. I ran to the corner and my heart fell. A little girl had been hit by a car -- and it let me tell you, it was not a light hit. As I said it sounded like two cars hitting. But Everyone came out to help - in the way a good neighbourhood would. I called the ambulance (along with a few others) , while a cyclist did an initial check of her needs and within a few minutes help had arrived. She began to sit up - and I recognized her as one of the local kids around 11 or 12 who I see when I go to work a little late. She appeared to be in shock but doing okay.. Greatful that she was okay and in the hands of the paramedics.. we all breathed a sigh of relif. It is not an easy sight ot take out of your head -- so all parents out there, remind yourself and everychild you know, just because you push the button to walk at a cross walk -- watch first before stepping off.

With the tought the little girl would be on the mend, off I went to get the fitting, and fill out the forms. Deposit done! I was going to pick a skin tone colour for the aid that will sit behind my ear -- and then I thought, WHY? so lime green it is!! I sat for 35 minutes in the walk in clinic downstairs to get the signature of a doctor on my ADP form ($500.00) for every Canadian who requires a hearing aid. So that left me with the grand total of 1500.00 dollars.. but it will be well worth hearing. Who knew these things were so expensive? Resound dot 2 hearing aid will be ready for pick up in 2 weeks.

So you ask, what did I do for myself the rest of the day .. went and got Thai to take home for lunch ( in the little take out box with chopsticks) , sat my butt down on the couch and watched a movie channel movie "The Duchess" and read some of my book. Oh bliss -- it was all about me. Mom came and watched the little lady on Friday night and hubby and I took a nice long walk along Spadina down, across Queen  St East ( what ever happened to those chic little shops?) and over the the Lawerance Market -- at our speed, not little leg speed. We ended our date night with a supper at a local pub called Whistlers..

Hoping for a speedy recovery for the little girl, and me -- well I have accepted the hearing aid is on it's way, I enjoyed an all about me afternoon.. And a flashback with Hubby to 10 years ago when we would wonder the streets and look and find the beauty in every neighbourhood..

One side note -- Spadina needs an overhaul -- the tagging is HORRIBLE! while our China town has never been the best - there is no need for it to look so run down -- I have noticed some of my favourite walks now included lots of area's with Tagging - along college in little Italy was pretty bad last year.. What do you think? Is it increasing or are they just not cleaning it up? Some Graffiti is actually beautiful Art ( like the commisioned ones in different parts of the EAST and WEST end)

Have any cool / interesting / you hate or love graffiti to share with me? Email me at whoiam2009@live.ca and I will post what we find :)

So Camera's ready -- take a few pictures!
