It can take only a minute

It can take only a minute to come up with an idea, or make a change that will affect the rest of the world. Both good and bad are contagious - we can either rally hope, or rally fear. In the days following Jack Laytons death, many of us will reflect on his final words - how can we not? his words and thoughts are covering your web pages be it twitter or facebook.

Jack was a part of my community, he was someone we saw on the TTC subway, walking the danforth or my favourite - walking at Broadview and Gerrad going from shop to shop wishing the local community happy new year, with chinese dragon in tow. No photo-op , no camera crews a round, Just him and a couple of aids, his cane and a dragon.

I live in his riding, I had an orange sign on my lawn.I voted for Jack.  I will miss that connection to my country, the ability to relate to someone who was so easily likeable and had a ready smile, who like many made me feel like my voice mattered, the reason I was able to relate to politics.

Jack Layton will have a final farewell, the city full of people who feel they know him will morn, but will his idea's live on? will the needs of all be considered and  will his fight for social justice continue? I think so - Jack was a voice of many, the face of many -- I look forward to who will come forward and wonder whose ideas, whose ability to rally will cause a ripple of change and help continue to make this country even better then where he left it.. he fought long and hard for many years to get us where we are.. will it be you? me? who knows.. I do know this
